Sky News Bribed Me With Sh20K To Lie About My Son Being The KQ Stowaway, Father Says
Isaac Betti, the man named in a Sky News Report published on November 11th about a stowaway on a Kenya Airways flight to London, has revealed that he received ksh20,000 from a Sky News Reporter when he positively identified the Kenya Airways stowaway as his son, an admission he has since recalled.
Isaac Betti, who has since refuted the Manyasi name also says his son’s name is Cedric Isaac Shivonje and not Paul Manyasi. Cedric is alive in a Kenyan prison for failure to raise a Ksh200,000 bail for an unrelated crime and has been speaking to journalists.
Mr Shivonje says he’s alive and was working in Kawangware on the fateful day, June 30th. He used to work as a teacher of English and science at a private school there.
In the article published on November 11 by Sky News, Shivonje says pictures used were taken from his Facebook page.
Isaac admits to having lied on record to Sky News. “I could not tell them that my son was in jail,” he told journalists.
“When the visitors came, they said they wanted to speak to me. They said my son was working at the airport. They asked me if I knew where he was working and I said ‘No’. They told me that my son died after hiding in a UK-bound flight.”
“I knew my son was in remand but I could not reveal to them. I wanted to protect him,” he says. He further says he did not want to his neighbours to know his son was in prison.
