US Embassy Warns That Al Shabaab Maybe Planning An Attack At A Major Hotel In Nairobi
In a security alert, the US Embassy in Nairobi is warning it’s citizens against an imminent terror attach. Based on their intelligence, the US says that the Terrorist groups may be planning an attack against a major hotel in Nairobi but the name of the hotel was not disclosed, however, it is believed to be a hotel popular with tourists and business travelers.
This is coming only a month after the commemoration of Dusit attack where 21 people including an American were killed on the 15th January terrier attack claimed by Al Shabaab.
Al Shabaab has technically targeted high end malls where foreigners frequent and with high human population. In September 2013, the terror group killed 71 people during the Westgate Mall attack.
The embassy is issuing the following measures to its citizens.
Actions to Take:
- Exercise increased vigilance when visiting or staying at hotels in the Nairobi area.
- If staying at a hotel, be aware of the hotel’s evacuation plan. Plan ahead of time how you would exit the hotel in case of an emergency.
- Review your personal security plans.
- Be aware of your surroundings.
