Detectives recovered the blood-stained knife from the couple’s rental house in Kitengela’s Orata area, which has been identified as the primary crime scene.
Kitengela, Kenya, Sept 15 – A 24-year-old woman has been arrested after allegedly stabbing her 38-year-old husband to death during a domestic dispute in Kitengela, Kajiado County, on Sunday night.
According to police, the woman called her father-in-law, Reuben Thuku, at around 8:30 p.m. and confessed to stabbing his son on the thigh with a kitchen knife.
The victim was rushed to Kitengela Sub-county Hospital by the suspect and neighbours but later died from excessive bleeding.
Detectives recovered the blood-stained knife from the couple’s rental house in Kitengela’s Orata area, which has been identified as the primary crime scene.
The body was taken to the Kitengela Sub-county Hospital mortuary for a postmortem.
Mr. Thuku told police the couple had a history of violent disputes, including a previous stabbing incident last year.
He said family and church interventions had failed to resolve their troubled marriage.
Neighbours reported frequent quarrels between the two, while police described the incident as “unfortunate.”
“To avert such untimely deaths, it’s advisable for couples to seek counseling when their relationships are strained,” said Isinya Sub-county Police Commander Simon Lokitari.
The suspect is being held at Kitengela Police Station and is expected to be arraigned as investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) continue.
