Kangema Politician Julia Nyokabi Chege Charged With Multimillion Fraud
A Kangema politician Juliah Nyokabi Chege, on Tuesday was arraigned in Kiambu Law Court and charged with conspiracy to defraud Kenyans by allegedly obtaining millions of shillings in the guise of helping them get to the United States of America.
She’s been accused of committing the offense between 1st May, 2013 and 31st August, 2023. She obtained Sh2,500,263 from Valentine Njoki, Alice Githinji, Alice Nduta amongst many others who’re yet to file cases against her. Ms. Chege had lured her victims into the trap claiming with her wide network she was able to to obtain them with right documents and secure them a visa travel to the US a fact that she knew was false.
She denied the charges.
Ms Chege, who holds a Bachelor of Biochemistry from the University of Nairobi (UoN), had tried her hand at politics in the last election where she vied for the Kangema parliamentary seat and lost.
Ms Chege is also the CEO of Premier Pick Leadership, an organisation that does capacity building in women leadership, she’s also a part-time lecturer at the UoN.
