The growing frustrations by lenders from their customers is pushing the banks to take extreme measures in bid to recover their money. Health workers across the country have been going for months without pay despite putting their lives in line to save many from the contagious COVID-19.

In the line of duty, a number of specialists have lost their lives, Dr. Stephen Mogusu a 28-year-old physician from COVID-19 is the latest example of dangerous and unjust working conditions in government hospitals. He employed on a temporary contract, had no medical cover and was never paid for the five months he worked in a COVID-19 ward at a public hospital in the town of Machakos.

He also piled a medical bill of about Sh1M that the young family he left couldn’t afford to pay, they were also left without compensation.

Mogusu after falling ill could not afford diapers for his 5-month old daughter.

He became the 13th doctor to die in the line of duty in what his colleagues say is due to failure by the government to provide them with tools necessary to protect them.

Kenyan healthcare workers have threatened to embark on strike action if the government does not address their grievances, which they say are key in stemming the deaths of frontline healthcare personnel as they battle the COVID-19 pandemic.

While the government continues to downplay the grievances of the doctors, other institutions like banks that are owed are not giving an ear to the plights.
