Police IG Mutyambai Speaks On Opening The Bars
Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai says all bars in the County must remain closed until the Ministry of Health reviews the protocols in place.
Mutyambai said immediate action will be taken against proprietors who have opened their premises in blatant contravention of the protocols.
Responding to concerns from Kenyans on the weekly engagement with citizens via the ##EngageTheIG, Mutyambai requested Kenyans to forward names of bars that are operating to necessitate action.
“All bars are supposed to remain closed until the Ministry of Health reviews the protocols in place. Having said that, kindly be specific of the region and bars you are referring to for immediate action,” He said.
The IG further stated that they don’t condone corruption at any level in the National Police Service and any officer, member of the public caught engaging in the same will face the full force of the law.
He encouraged members of the public to report such cases for immediate action.
And on the rising cases of motorbike riding gangs and muggers, Mutyambai said they are currently working with the Bodaboda Associations to ensure that all motorcycles are registered to enhance traceability and accountability.
He revealed that there are extensive plans to address the matter of remuneration among junior officers with the Salaries and Remuneration Commission, adding that they are also working on addressing shortage of uniforms in the Kenya Police Service.
“Uniforms are being done in phases based on availability of resources, however the previous uniform is still functional and can be used by the officers who are yet to receive the new regalia. The C.O.A will be issued to the officers in question in due time too,” He said.
Mutyambai also lauded Kenyans for appreciating and recognizing the efforts of police officers who are doing a good job adding that all the issues raised will be dealt with as soon as possible.
He said ther next #EngageTheIG session will be held on 21st September at 1100hrs.
