Soft-spoken lawyer Silas Jakakimba, a former aspirant for the Homabay Senate seat during the 2015 by-election and an aide to Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga has revealed he has been, for the last three years involved in a heated and frustrating child custody battle.

In a long post on Facebook, the man wrote a heartfelt message explaining how he has been in the Children’s Court, Nairobi countless times fighting hard to ensure his Parental Rights and Duties over Gavana Kiprono and Rotarian Kiprotich are secured, this, however, are efforts that have been frustrated.

In the post, Jakakimba explains problems first arose in 2017 when he was denied access to the kids. For over 4 months from June 2017 he says he did not have any contact prompting him to go to Court at the end of September 2017.

Express Orders on Access and School Visits were given, this he says have been breached constantly. “The latest has seen both the Advocate of the Defendant and the Defendant herself ganging up to refuse to give me my kids for Half Holidays, which should have happened on 1st Dec. 2019 at 10am.” Jakakimba writes.

Given it’s day four since his half holidays with the kids orders were breached, he has been sending messages which have been left unreplied and his calls have gone unanswered. According to the man, calls to the defendants advocates have also been ignored.

Frustrated and tired of courts, Jakakimba ordered the unnamed Defendant and Duncan Okatch, the Advocate to have his children brought to him by 5pm On Tuesday. “I am IMPOLITELY asking both the Defendant and Duncan Okatch, Advocate, to IMMEDIATELY avail to me my sons or cause them to be availed INSTANT not later than 5pm TODAY. I am NOT going to any Court again over this. Whereas some folks may misinterpret the move herein, I know I have done it in the Best interests of My Sons and My Own as their Father.” he wrote.
