Schools Could Reopen In November, Magoha
In what is now becoming a a steady confusion galore, the education CS Prof. Magoha has announced that some schools could reopen as early as November should they satisfy the ministry of having taken the stringent measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.
Sources in the ministry say that schools may have a phased reopening by November, allowing Form Four and Standard Eight students back to school.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha said only three technical and vocational colleges were ready for reopening in line with the Covid-19 protocols. These include Rift Valley Institute, Eldoret and the Nyeri Polytechnic.
The ministry is embarking on training the heads of learning institutions on the health guidelines ahead of the blurry reopening.
The heads will be required to develop hygiene protocols, social distancing as key measures in stopping the potential spread. Schools will be needed to provide sanitizers, disinfectants, running water and face masks.
Assemblies, inter-institution competitions like games, drama, music, sports and other events that create crowded conditions will be suspended.
Schools will only be allowed hold class assemblies to pray, pass health messages and make announcements.
