Man Who Duped Foreigner by Claiming He Would Inspect 200 Kgs of Gold at JKIA Charged

A man alleged to be part of a gold scam syndicate in the city has been charged with conspiring to steal from a foreigner by falsely claiming he could facilitate the inspection of 200 kgs of gold at JKIA.
Obadiah Kipkemoi Langat, alias Richard, was accused of conspiring to steal Ksh 309,000 from Azimagli Serge Amani between August 2 and 6, 2024.
He allegedly misled Amani into believing he could arrange the inspection of 200 kgs of gold detained at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, a claim he knew to be false.
Langat denied the charges before Magistrate Ndombi and was released on Sh 150,000 cash bail.
