Cash Prizes For Kenyan Olympics Medalists
Kenya emerged the best in Africa and finished 17th overall at the Paris Olympics, amassing 11 medals, 4 golds, 2 silvers, and 5 bronze medals.
President William Ruto has offered cash rewards to nine Olympics medalist for exemplary performances.
The ceremony was held on Thursday at the Eldoret State Lodge as the head of state hosted team Kenya from the Paris Olympics for a breakfast.
Each Olympic gold medalist received a cash reward of Ksh 3 million shillings.
Silver medalists took home 2 million shillings and 1 million shillings each .
During the event Ruto instructed the Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen to make sure the Sports Fund is solely utilised to assist athletes in their daily training and international championship preparations.
All team Kenya athletes and officials were accorded a red carpet reception at the state lodge as the team captain and three-time Olympic champion, Faith Kipyegon, handed back the national flag to the head of state.
