Kenya Airways Suspends Flights To China In The Wake Of Corona Virus
World Health Organization declared the Corona Virus a global health emergency following the escalation of the virus that has been tested positing in now more than 20 countries from its origin in China.
US has issued a travel warning against its citizens traveling to China with Russia closing its borders as strict measures to prevent further infections.
Chinese authorities reported more than 40 Wuhan coronavirus deaths on Thursday, the most fatal day yet in the outbreak.
The total death toll is 213, with almost 10,000 cases confirmed worldwide. As of Thursday night, there were more than 9,600 coronavirus cases confirmed in China, authorities said, an increase of almost 2,000 from the previous day.
More than 20 countries and territories outside of mainland China have confirmed cases of the virus — spanning Asia, Europe, North America and the Middle East — as India, Italy and the Philippines reported their first cases on Thursday.
Major airlines around the world as British airlines has suspended their flights to and from China in the wake of the deadly virus. Kenya Airways despite having had an incident in which a student is still under isolation as tests are still being run, continued their China flights.
Move by KQ to continue their flights to continue their flights has drawn harsh criticism in the last days with many saying it’s courting disaster. Aviation workers at JKIA had threatened to go on strike should the airline refuse to suspend the China flights.
However, on Friday Kenya Airways announcer they were suspending all their flights to and from Guangzhou, China until further notice following outbreak of the coronavirus in Wuhan Province, China.
