NPSC Revises Police Recruitment Plan, Announces New Centers for 10,000 Officer Intake
The updated list, it said, should guide applicants ahead of the nationwide recruitment exercise set to run from October 3 to October 9.
NAIROBI, Kenya – The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has revised its recruitment plan for 10,000 police constables, announcing new centres and correcting errors in its earlier advertisement.
In a notice issued on September 30, the Commission clarified that several recruitment venues had been omitted from the initial notice published in local dailies on September 19 and 20.
The updated list, it said, should guide applicants ahead of the nationwide recruitment exercise set to run from October 3 to October 9.
“The National Police Service Commission wishes to inform the public of the following clarifications, additions, and corrections to the designated recruitment centres,” read part of the notice.
Among the new venues added are Nuu TVET Grounds in Kitui County, Sabuli in Wajir, Zombe Stadium in Kitui, and Kokane in Tana River, where recruitment will take place on October 7.
On October 8, the exercise will also be held at Kibu’nga in Tharaka Nithi, Thuura Secondary School in Meru, and Mathuki DCC Grounds in Kitui.
Other corrections include moving Kilifi North’s recruitment to Karisa Maitha Stadium, Embakasi Central’s to Humama Grounds, and Embakasi North’s to Dandora Stadium. Bungoma County’s recruitment on October 6 will be held at Sirisia Sports Grounds, while Suba West in Homa Bay will now use Sena Air Strip.
In Kiambu, Kabete Sub-County’s venue has been shifted to Kirangari Vocational Training Centre, while several other counties—including Kilifi, Kwale, Kitui, and Tharaka Nithi—have also seen adjustments to their designated centres.
The NPSC encouraged National Youth Service (NYS) graduates who meet the minimum requirements to apply, but clarified that they would only be recruited within their respective counties.
Applicants must be Kenyan citizens aged between 18 and 28 years, hold a valid ID, and have at least a KCSE mean grade of D+ with a similar grade in English or Kiswahili.
They must also be physically and medically fit, have no criminal record, and for female applicants, not be pregnant at the time of recruitment and throughout training.
Application forms can be accessed on the NPSC website (www.npsc.go.ke), affiliated government sites, or collected from Huduma Centres countrywide.
Candidates must present themselves at their respective centres with original and copies of academic certificates, testimonials, national ID, birth certificate, and NYS discharge certificate where applicable.
The Commission stressed that all other details from the initial advertisement remain unchanged and urged applicants to carefully follow the updated guidelines when reporting to recruitment centres.
This year’s drive, one of the largest in recent years, comes amid growing pressure on the police service to strengthen its manpower as it grapples with rising insecurity and an overstretched workforce.
