FIFA Boosts Kenya’s Cerebral Palsy Team with Equipment Donation
The Football International Federation Association (FIFA) has donated 35 footballs to the Cerebral Palsy Football Kenya Federation (CPFKF) as the team prepares for the upcoming Intercontinental Cup in Birmingham, UK, scheduled for August 15–24, 2025.
Speaking during the handover at Parklands Sports Club, FIFA’s Diversity and Anti-Discrimination Project Manager Terry Ouko emphasized the importance of inclusion in football.
“FIFA recently launched a Disability Toolkit to make football accessible to everyone. Our goal is to ensure persons with disabilities can enjoy and pursue football, whether recreationally or professionally,” Ouko said.
“I chose to begin this initiative at home with CPFKF.”
Ouko was joined by Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Administrative Manager Neddy Atieno and Rael Kamanda from the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA).
CPFKF President Lydia Iregi thanked FIFA for the donation, noting it will help the team intensify preparations for the Birmingham tournament, which also serves as a qualifier for the 2026 Cerebral Palsy Football World Cup in Spain.
“This tournament is key for international exposure and talent development. Many persons with cerebral palsy in Kenya haven’t had the chance to showcase their abilities. That’s what we’re working to change,” she said.
The national team, led by coach Willis Odhiambo, is expected to name its final squad for both men’s and women’s sides in mid-July as training intensifies with the new equipment.
