Royal Media Services To Cut Down Employees Salaries By Upto 30 Per Cent
Royal Media Services (RMS) has announced 20-30 pc pay cuts for its employees as the company takes a hit from the economic ripple effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
In an internal memo seen by Kenyainsights RMS Managing Director Wachira Waruru states that the temporary move was agreed upon to ensure the company’s sustainability.
“With effect from 1st April 2020, all employees will be subjected to 20% to 30% reduction of their gross monthly salary based on their job levels. Each staff will be issued with their individual letter through their supervisor. The reduction is temporary and will be reversed when things return to normal,” The circular states.”Though the above measures are hard and drastic, we urge all to take this move positively.”
This comes barely days after Standard Media group announced they would be firing about 170 employees further highlighting the toll the pandemic hs taken on normal middle class Kenyans
