Matiang’i Threatens To Sue Robert Alai And KahawaTungu Over An Alleged Defamatory Article
Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Dr. Fred Okengo Matiang’i has threatened to sue blogger Robert Alai for writing and publishing false and malicious information about him on the 13th of March 2020 in his Twitter account and personal blog Kahawatungu under an article titled “Concrete Blasting Company Associated With CS Fred Matiangi Accused of Raining Havoc In Kisii”
Using his legal representatives KTK advocates, Matiang’i claims that Alai without facts wrote an article that was meant to disparage in his public office and life. “The said publications were out of malevolence and spite towards the minister.” The letter dated 27th March 2020 reads.
“The said publications… were also calculated to increase the popularity and Twitter page with a view to make profit as media influencer and to attract advertising.” the demand letter further states.
The CS has demanded Alai pull down the said publication and complete expunging them online, failure to which the CS has threatened to move to court to file for a suit that will compel the blogger to remove the posts in his own costs.
A spot check by Kenyainsights shows the articles are still live at the time of this publication.
The CS also wants payment for damages caused.
