Are Corrupt Public Officials Burning Their Offices To Escape Audits?
In yet another case of fires razing County finance offices destroying most computers and documents before it is contained, police in Kisumu have launched investigations into a fire incident after the county finances offices went on fire Sunday evening.
The fire which broke out on the second floor of Prosperity House, which houses the county government, is said to have destroyed most computers at Integrated Financial Management and Information System (IFMIS) and important documents before it was put out.
But this is not the first time fires are burning up important files in county finance offices, On September 25, 2019, a fire outbreak at Busia County Finance department burnt down important files just two months after yet another fire burnt Kitui County County’s Finance Economic and Planning offices.
Are these fires planned? Are these planned burning audits? Kenyans have taken to social media to condemn the highly suspicious trend:
