Waititu’s New Salehe Hotel Is A Theft Haven
Ousted Kiambu governor Ferdinand Waititu is on the spot yet again after his recently opened Salehe hotel has become a hub for theft.
According to Nairobi News A Malaysian doctor who was staying at the impeached governor’s hotel along Koinange Street in Nairobi for four days complained that he lost cash and property worth Ksh 400,000 over his period of stay last week.
Bing’s Sh 80,000 ($800) was stolen on Friday evening, February 21st and the next day another Sh140,000 ($1,400) in cash was taken from his room, a laptop worth Sh75,000 together with travel documents including passports and vaccination cards also mysteriously vanished.
An employee who is said to have access cards to all rooms was captured by CCTV cameras entering Bing’s room where he spent about 20 minutes. He has since gone into hiding, is being sought after by the police.
Bing says waititu’s daughter asked him to keep the matter on the low as they sorted it out for him, “The hotel owner’s daughter had promised to sort it out for me on the following Monday which I refused because I was returning to Malaysia on the same day,” Bing stated adding that he reported the matter at Central Police Station on Saturday, February 22nd where he was issued an abstract.
“Since the hotel owner knew the two incidents were taking place in their hotel and my money amounting to $3200 had been stolen, I should be compensated.” The doctor says.
Waititu who is the employer as he owns the hotel is taking the heat for poor security at his hotel. The guest is lucky only money and property was stolen while he was away. Had he walked in on the criminal, he could be dead. It’s a serious issues that needs adressing.
