The coolest retired US President and most powerful man on Earth Barrack Obama has lost his coolness because of the so-called rather self-proclaimed keyboard warriors.
Speaking at an event for the Obama Foundation on Tuesday this week, the former President had an interview with actress and activist Yara Shahidi and spoke to a group of youths in Chicago. During the chat, Obama slammed online cancel culture that most social media users pomposity just because they have a large virtual fanbase.
“This idea of purity and that you’re never compromised and you’re always politically woke and all that stuff you should get over that quickly. The world is messy. There are ambiguities. People who do really good stuff have flaws. People who you are fighting may love their kids, and share certain things with you.” Obama said.
The retired President was responding to a culture that the current US President Donald Trump has set up and not only running the country but also running the government through his Social media accounts.
A move that has since seen the upswing of so-called online activists and revolutionaries. Take, for instance, our very own Canada based Kenyan Dr Miguna Miguna who has branded himself as the Kenyan revolutionary who’s fight the political rot in Kenya by tweet facts and words.
“If I tweet or hashtag about how you didn’t do something right or used the wrong verb, then I can sit back and feel pretty good about myself. Did you see how woke I was, I called you out. Then I’m going to get on my TV and watch my show. That’s not activism. That’s not bringing about change. If all you’re doing is casting stones, you’re probably not going to get that far.” Barack Obama said.
