Travel Agent Charged With Sh900K Fraud
An Ultimate Quest Travel Services agent was today arraigned in court and charged with obtaining money from unsuspecting jobseeker pretending he would facilitate employment to the United Kingdom.
Kennedy Nganga Kimani is accused of using fraudulent tricks to obtain Ksh 900,000 from Elizabeth Sugut pretending he was in a position to issue work permit to UK for her cousin.
According to Elizabeth, she was introduced to Kennedy in 2016 and in April 2024 she approached him so that he could process work permit for her two cousins who wanted to travel to Turkey for greener pastures.
The accused requested for some money to facilitate the processing of the work permit.
Elizabeth send Ksh 900,000 to the accused person’s Mpesa number. The accused then told her that he would call her to collect the work permits when they are ready.
After the accused person received the money he kept on giving fake excuses and never supplied her with the work permit.
Kennedy appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at Milimani Law Courts where he pleaded guilty to the offence and he was convicted on his own plea of guilty.
He has been remanded in custody until January 23, 2025, for a presentence report before sentencing.
