Kenyans Can Now Access Certificates of Good Conduct From Huduma Centers
Kenyans can now access police clearance certificates from Huduma Centres near them across the country.
According to Huduma Kenya, the move will help expedite the process and ease access to good conduct certificates.
Before services were moved online to the eCitizen portal, Kenyans would pick up their Certificates of Good Conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Nairobi or from regional DCI offices.
“Police clearance is now within reach. Walk into select Huduma Centres and get your good conduct certificate processed faster,” Huduma Kenya said in a statement on X.
Huduma Kenya said the fingerprint process cannot be done fully online because of the nature and legal requirements surrounding it.
According to them, biometrics capture requires physical presence.
Kenyans seeking employment, visas, or professional licenses are often required to present a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC), commonly known as the Certificate of Good Conduct.
The document confirms whether an applicant has a criminal record.
The process begins on the government’s eCitizen portal. Applicants must log in or create an account and select DCI services.
From there, they choose Police Clearance Certificate, fill in the required details, and make a payment of Sh1,050. After payment, the system generates a C24 fingerprint form and a receipt, both of which must be printed.
Fingerprinting is a mandatory step in the process. Applicants are required to book an appointment online and present themselves in person at designated centres, including DCI headquarters along Kiambu Road, Huduma Centres, or regional DCI offices.
They must carry their original national ID or passport, a copy of the same, two passport photos, the C24 form, and the payment receipt.
Once fingerprints are taken, the application is processed at the DCI. This can take between two to four weeks.
Applicants are notified via SMS or email when the certificate is ready.
The document can then be downloaded directly from the applicant’s eCitizen account.
The certificate is valid for twelve months from the date of issue. It shows whether the holder has no criminal record, pending cases, or past convictions.
