EXCLUSIVE: From Gun Threats to Illegal Evictions: How Sakaja’s Operatives Are Allegedly Harassing Woodley Residents
According to Woodley Residents Association Chairperson Samson Gachoka, operatives allegedly from Sakaja’s office are causing residents sleepless nights.
Governor Johnson Sakaja is facing criticism for allegedly using operatives to harass, intimidate, and illegally evict Woodley residents from their homes, despite the residents possessing legal documentation proving ownership.
The Nairobi County leader has allegedly continued to use his operatives and controversial tactics to demolish houses in Woodley, reportedly in violation of court orders and constitutional human rights provisions.
According to residents who spoke yesterday, the Nairobi County boss has frequently ignored court orders and deployed the alleged operatives to illegally evict them, causing significant distress and suffering.
One resident provided disturbing testimony on live television yesterday, describing how he was confronted and threatened at gunpoint by a man who emerged from a luxury vehicle.
“I was coming to see my friend here in Woodley when a man—a complete stranger to me—followed me and, brandishing his gun, warned me never to step in Woodley again,” he said during the television interview.
According to Woodley Residents Association Chairperson Samson Gachoka, operatives allegedly from Sakaja’s office are causing residents sleepless nights.
He is now appealing to Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and the national government to intervene.
Gachoka said those behind the evictions have blatantly ignored court orders and continued to violate human rights in the estate.
“I want to urge Senator Edwin Sifuna to break his silence and help resolve this matter. I also urge the national government, through President William Ruto, to intervene and stop these illegalities,” he stated.
Our investigation reveals that a group of alleged land cartels from City Hall are behind the evictions in Woodley due to greed and corruption.
“These evictions are happening at Woodley because of greedy people from City Hall who want to grab residents’ land and sell it for personal benefit. The estate is located in a prime area,” a source told this reporter.
Previous evictions in the estate have been marked by alleged human rights violations, which human rights activists have condemned.
Kenya Independent Candidates Association President Stephen Owoko is calling on President William Ruto to intervene and stop Governor Sakaja from continuing with alleged illegal eviction plans.
“Dear Mr. President, I request you to stop Mr. Sakaja from violating court orders and evicting senior citizens from their homes in Woodley. These are people who have worked for this country tirelessly and diligently,” he said.
According to our sources, some Woodley residents have been hospitalized due to the alleged evictions.
