Drama at Western Kenya Burial as Coffin ‘Refuses’ to Be Lowered, Family Accuses Hidden Witchcraft
Residents of Ebusakami Village, Vihiga County, are still in shock after a burial turned into what many are calling the most terrifying spiritual event they have ever witnessed.
The incident began on a Saturday afternoon when the family of 68-year-old Mzee Peter Ochieng gathered for his final send-off. Mzee Peter, a retired teacher, had died peacefully in his sleep. His burial proceeded normally hymns were sung, speeches made, and the body was lowered into the grave as the sun set.
However, by Sunday morning, villagers woke to find the coffin lying on top of the freshly dug grave the soil scattered around as if it had been violently pushed out from below.
“I thought it was a hyena,” said neighbour Mama Akoth, trembling as she spoke to reporters. “But there were no paw prints, no disturbance around the compound just the coffin, neatly on top of the grave. That’s when we knew this was not an animal. This was something spiritual.”
The family, in shock, quickly reburied the body that afternoon, this time with more people helping to pack the soil tightly and even placing heavy stones on top.
But what happened next would send chills down the spines of everyone in attendance.
At dawn on Monday, the coffin was back on top of the grave again the soil scattered even wider this time. Eyewitnesses claim there was no sign of tampering, no footprints, and no digging tools left behind. Some said they heard faint knocking from the direction of the grave at night, but were too afraid to investigate. To keep reading, click here.
