British Media Reporting That Eliud Kipchoge Has Unfair Advantage With His Shoes And Attempts Linking Him To Doping

A section of the British Media is now purportedly reporting that Kenyan Olympic world marathon record holder Eliud Kipchoge has an unfair advantage due to his shoes while also linking him with doping. In an article on the telegraph 150, Kenyan athletes tested positive for drugs between 2004 and 2018 and thus suggesting Eliud is using drugs in his attempt to break his own record.

It is reasonable to have some element of scepticism in the current climate. Almost 150 Kenyan athletes tested positive for drugs between 2004 and 2018, while there have been recent reports of corruption in the Kenyan anti-doping programme.” The Telegraph reports, “Aiding the Kenyan’s quest is British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his controversial chemicals company Ineos.” the article continues.

other media outlets report that the Kipchoge Nike prototype ZoomX Vaporfly X which has a sandwich of three carbon fiber layers around two layers of pressurized cushions would put quite a bounce in a runner’s step. “Maybe just enough bounce to take 26 seconds off a marathon attempt.”

Asked about those who think his attempt is folly, Kipchoge simply replied: “I respect everybody’s thoughts and I hope they respect mine, too. The law of nature cannot allow all of us to come together.”

Eliud Kipchoge, will tomorrow attempt to beat his own record and run the 42-kilometre distance in one hour 59 seconds in Vienna, beating his own time, previously running the 42-Kilometre distance in two hours, one minute and 39 seconds in Berlin.

As Kenyans, such allegations meant to take away from this big milestone one of our own is about to achieve can not shake us. The few that want to believe the shoes are “rocket propelled” we understand cannot fathom how Africans can be successful in any art. Eliud’s win is our win and all I can say is “Let’s go champ”
