‘They Come At Night’: Gachagua Claims Ruto Insiders Secretly Supporting and Advising Him
NAIROBI, Kenya Jun 18 – DCP Party leader Rigathi Gachagua has claimed that some people serving within President William Ruto’s government are secretly consulting with him as he ramps up efforts to challenge the President in the 2027 General Election.
Speaking at his Wamunyoro residence in Mathira, Nyeri County, where he is undertaking a 45-day political strategy retreat, Gachagua revealed that his team has been holding numerous meetings, including some away from the public eye, as he builds alliances aimed at unseating Ruto.
The former Deputy President claimed that some government insiders are quietly sharing information and advice with his camp while continuing to serve in government.
“Meetings late into the night. Some are publicized, others are not,” Gachagua said.
“There are people within government who are also consulting with us. We will protect their identity.”
The DCP leader suggested that some public officials are dissatisfied with the current administration but remain in their positions because they depend on their salaries.
“We have those who want to come at night, they are welcome. The Nicodemuses of this world, we still need their contribution because they are Kenyans,” he stated.
“And most of them are very uncomfortable with this government, but they still need a salary. They are advising us and telling us what pitfalls to avoid.”
Since parting ways with President Ruto politically, Gachagua has been seeking to consolidate support across different regions while presenting himself as a key challenger to the Kenya Kwanza administration.
