I used to look at my children and feel like the luckiest man alive. Their smiles, their laughter, it was the only thing that kept me going after tough days at work. I was the provider, the protector, the loving father. Or so I thought.

My name is Kevin. I’m 38. And what I discovered nearly shattered me.

For 11 years, I raised two beautiful kids. I paid school fees without ever being late. I took them to amusement parks, bought them ice cream after hospital visits, even left work early for their parent-teacher meetings. My wife, Mercy, would always say, “Babe, they’re lucky to have a father like you.”

Only, I wasn’t their father.

It started with whispers. A neighbour once said, “They look nothing like you, Kevin.” I laughed it off. Then I started noticing it too.
