Shock in Molo as 16-Year-Old Boy Confesses to Killing Mother For Not Revealing His Real Father
A quiet neighborhood in Nyakiambi area of Molo has been thrown into mourning and disbelief after a 16-year-old boy confessed to killing his own mother following a heated argument over the identity of his biological father.
According to police, the tragic incident unfolded on Friday afternoon, July 25, when the teenager, a Form Three dropout, confronted his mother demanding to know the identity of his real father.
The conversation quickly turned confrontational when the woman, described by neighbors as reserved and hardworking, refused to divulge the information.
What followed was nothing short of a nightmare.
Police say the boy struck his mother multiple times on the head, killing her on the spot. Investigators believe the fatal blows were delivered using a blunt object, though the exact murder weapon is yet to be recovered.
In a chilling twist, the boy then attempted to conceal the crime by digging a shallow grave in an adjacent unoccupied house within their compound, where he intended to bury her body.
His plan, however, was interrupted.
On Sunday morning, July 27, the victim’s brother, who had grown concerned after not hearing from his sister for days, visited the home only to discover the gruesome scene. He immediately alerted police.
Officers from Molo Police Station rushed to the residence and found the lifeless body of the woman sprawled inside the house. The teenager, when confronted, admitted to the killing. He was arrested on the spot.
“This is a bizarre and deeply troubling case. The suspect is in custody as investigations continue. We are also seeking psychological support for the boy,” said a senior officer who spoke on condition of anonymity.
The woman’s body was moved to Elburgon Level Four Hospital morgue for preservation and a post-mortem examination.
Elsewhere, in Meru County, police have launched a separate probe after the body of a 39-year-old man was discovered floating in River Riji.
The deceased, identified as Kenneth Gitonga, was spotted by a pedestrian who raised the alarm. Police said parts of his body, including the lips, ears, and eyes, had been eaten by river crabs. Officers noted a suspicious wound on the right side of his face, possibly caused by a sharp object.
“We are investigating whether the man drowned or was murdered and later dumped in the river,” said a local police official.
Gitonga’s body was moved to Meru Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy.
Both cases have left local residents stunned as questions swirl around the growing incidence of domestic and mysterious deaths across the region.
