Why Benji Ndolo Left EBRU TV

Political analyst and activist is currently embroiled in a heated dispute with his immediate employer Everest Production Corporation Kenya Limited where he was working as a tv host for Ebru. In a public spat that has gone viral on Twitter, Benji said he called it quits following allegations of discrimination, harassment by management and general observations of mistreatment of staff.

He singled out the station’s manager Anab Mohamed as greedy and exploitative. Apparently his salary was slashed by half after his recovery from COVID-19.

Mrs Anab fired my producer Beverly Vugutsa in a very uncouth, cruel and unprofessional manner and because Bev is so quiet and gentle it emboldened her. Kenya is NOT a shabab colony! Hapan tambua ujinga kutoka kona yoyote. ?

Because the job market is so bad, most Kenyans are fearful and endure serious abuse in the hands of employers. The Media fraternity is especially afflicted with this VIRUS, most environs are TOXIC. Stand up, Speak up! We are fixing this nation, one issue at a time.

As we exchanged words in the boardroom with voices raised, there was pin drop silence in the entire office…I realized everyone was listening very keenly and instantly knew I was speaking for many. Toxic stuff happening daily in the work space and especially in MEDIA houses.

He went further to allege racism in the newsroom from none other than the station’s owner.

At @EbruTVKenya the White (Turkish) owners hardly greet the Blacks let alone mix with them, there is too much cow dung in this country it STINKS! Why do we allow it????

In a quick rejoinder, Ebru management released a confidential statement that was meant for Benji but was posted online (they’ve since deleted it). In the letter, Benji is accused of engaging in verbal assault and gross misconduct.

As if Ebru made me ??? for months that woman begged me to join the team. Do not tolerate nonsense from anyone guys, I’m fixing this sh!t for all y’all young bucks out here hustling and getting shafted daily. I’m your human rights advocate! ??

The battle could now be headed to the courts with Benji suing for mistreatment  and Ebru for contract breach.
