Woman Charged With Obtaining Sh62M In A Ministry Of Devolution Fake Laptop Tender
A woman has been charged with obtaining over Sh 62 million from a businessman in a ministry of devolution fake laptop tender.
Mercy Wanja Muriithi alias Hannah Nyaguthie Murithi is the second person to be charged over the scam after one Gilbert Wachira Kariuki alias Moris Kariuki was charged less than a month ago.
The accused is charged with obtaining the money from Hopeland Advertising and Design Limited director, John Ohas Omondi by falsely pretending she was in position to award him a tender from ministry of devolution for the supply of laptops valued at Sh 94,250,000, a fact she knew was false.
Both are alleged to have committed the offense on diverse dates between 8th August and 29th October 2018 in Nairobi jointly with others not before court.
Muriithi is also facing charges of conspiracy to defraud shilling 62,950,000 million from Ohas by falsely they were in position to award him the said tender.
She denied the charges before Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku and was released on a bond of 500,000 or cash bail of Sh 100,000.
