KPA MD Manduku To Spend Upto Sh10M For Induction Into African Leadership Magazine CEOs Hall Of Fame
While he’s struggling to clear his name on corruption accusations, the embattled KPA MD Daniel Manduku whose arrest has been imminent, is set for a prestigious award that would attempt to dust off his dusty shelves of scandals.
Manduku has of late been between court corridors and DCI offices than in office. The Kenya Ports Authority MD had filed a petition seeking to stop the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) from instituting charges against him based on an investigative report and recommendations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The investigations relate to the revitalisation of Kisumu Port, construction of Makongeni goods shed, and construction of concrete barriers for various ports in the country. Court eventually dismissed the suit and he’s currently under investigations.
Kenya Insights has obtained credible information that the MD has engaged services of a private PR firm to clean his image. This has been evident through subtle media campaigns both traditional and digital.
The latest we’ve learnt that the embattled MD is set to spend approximately Sh10M to buy a slot in the prestigious African Leadership Magazine who wants to induct KPA MD Manduku into the African Leadership CEO Hall Of Fame for the year 2019 and they intend to feature him on their magazine cover as well.
According a nomination letter written by the Magazine’s board to Manduku and seen by Kenya Insights, the nomination and getting featured on its pages come at a heavy price which could see the company lose more money as it’s obvious who’ll foot the bills.
Magazine showcase requires nominees including Manduku to pay USD 8,000 for a 2 page magazine cover for his profile. Beside that, he’ll travel with a 6 KPA managers team. The team will spend USD 6,400 for a VIP table reservation. If you factor in the Air tickets and the hotel bookings the figure leaves you angry. Event is set for 28th of February in Sandton, Johannesburg.
Despite having been battling corruption accusations, it’s puzzling and ironical is according to the letter, the board are all praises for Manduku, “Following rigorous screening and vetting process, we’re pleased to inform you that you’ve been meritoriously selected from our shortlist nominees.” Reads part of the letter. This casts so many doubts on the authenticity.
“Your nomination for this induction and award stems from your work track record of accomplishments and commitment to excellence integrity and professionalism in public service.” It continues.
Do you think Manduku is worth the award and is the expenditure justifiable?
