Police Launch Investigations Over Viral Police Brutality Video
Releasing a statement on popular social media platform Twitter early Tuesday morning, the Inspector General of police Hilary Mutyambai has said the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) has been directed to investigate the viral video that showed one Allan Omondi clobbered mercilessly by police units.
The IAU have been asked to make appropriate recommendations for action to be taken within 24hrs.
Earlier Interior Cabinet secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i had also taken to Twitter to condemn the brutal force used by the officers.
Yesterday after the incident, Member of parliament for Embakasi East constituency Babu Owino had written to both the IG and CS asking for immediate actions against the police officers.
