Police Contemplates Charging Dennis Itumbi With Treason
Blogger and Digital Strategist Dennis Itumbi is set to be arraigned in court today after being held in custody for five days as police embarked on deeper investigations.
Sources at DCI exudes confidence after questioning the blogger that they’ve gathered enough evidence to nail him. Itumbi who’s accused of falsifying documents of alleged assassination plot on the Deputy President Ruto, told the court that he had tangible evidence to prove that a meeting at La Mada hotel by cabinet secretaries from the central had schemed on eliminating the DP.
Even though the DP is yet to make a formal complaint, a combined team of FBI and DCI found the letter circulated as fake and tracked it down to Itumbi as the author.
Police sources told the media that by last evening, it had been decided Mr Itumbi should be charged with making a false document.
However, there was a push for a higher charge of treason for imagining the death of a sitting deputy president, said the sources.
