Troubled Nairobi Hospital Seeking New CEO: Here’s What You Need to Know
The search for a new CEO at Nairobi Hospital comes in the wake of James Nyamongo’s recent departure following the completion of his contract.
Earlier this year, the Kenya Hospital Association (KHA), which manages the hospital, also announced leadership changes within its Board of Management.
While the recruitment process offers a chance for fresh leadership to uphold and enhance the hospital’s regional prominence, internal power struggles persist.
Tensions have escalated after a shareholder obtained court approval to challenge the board’s last-minute amendment of a notice for a virtual Special General Meeting just three days before the conference.
CEO Role and Responsibilities
The CEO will play a crucial role in shaping the hospital’s future. This position reports directly to the Board of Management and requires a leader with strategic thinking, financial expertise, and strong leadership skills. Below are the key responsibilities:
- Develop and execute short-term and long-term strategies for the hospital’s growth.
- Oversee daily operations and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies, healthcare partners, and the community.
- Manage hospital finances effectively to ensure sustainability and growth.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team to achieve operational excellence.
Qualifications for the Nairobi Hospital CEO
To be considered for the role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Educational Background
- A Master’s degree in Strategic Management, Healthcare Management, Leadership, Governance, or a related field.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Medical/Clinical studies, Business, Finance, or Economics.
Professional Experience
- At least 15 years of executive management experience, preferably in the healthcare sector.
- A proven record of strategic leadership and financial management.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and innovation skills.
How to Apply for the Nairobi Hospital CEO Position
Qualified candidates should submit a professional bio and an updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) as a single document.
The bio should highlight key accomplishments and explain why the candidate is interested in the position. The CV must outline education, work experience, and major career achievements.
Application Submission Details
Applicants must email their documents to [email protected] before March 14, 2025. The subject line should read: Application for Chief Executive Officer – [Applicant’s Name].
To facilitate easy identification, all submitted documents must be labeled with the applicant’s name. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for further steps in the recruitment process.
