Intelligence Officer, Her ‘manager’ Charged With Assaulting Husband
A national intelligence officer has been arraigned at a city court and charged with an offense of allegedly assaulting her husband.
Viola Cherono Ruto alongside Obadiah Murgor Kosgei whom Ruto claimed in court that he was her business manager were arraigned before Kibera Senior Principal Magistrate Jackline Kahuyia.
The two were presented before the magistrate on Friday and denied the charge.
According to the charge sheet which was read to them it was stated that they committed the alleged offense on October 11,2023.
They allegedly committed the offense at Nairobi game park apartment in Langata, Nairobi where they assaulted Moses Kiplagat Toroitich who is the husband of Viola.
The charge sheet added that in the course of the assault they caused bodily harm to him.
In a police report seen in court, the complainant claimed to police that the wife who is an intelligence officer assaulted him after the two (his wife and her allaged manager) alighted from his (Toroitich) car that was being driven by the first accused person (Kosgei).
He added in his report to the police that he didn’t know Kosgei as a manager to his wife and that he (Kosgei) had threatened to shoot her during the confrontation.
Toroitich too claimed in the report that he had on several times warned his wife not to drive in his car with Kosgei.
“He attacked me as my wife was holding me.Kosgei came with a pistol he removed from my car he was driving and threatened to kill me which he was restrained by the estate private security officers,”claimed Toroitich in a police report.
He too added in his report to police that his wife Viola also shouted at Kosgey to stop shooting at him which he said saved his life.
The complainant according to the police report continued to say that after the attack he visited Nairobi south hospital the following day on October 12 for treatment. He then reported the matter at Langata police station the following day on October 13 where it was booked in a police occurrence book (OB).
They were each released on a cash bail of Sh20 000.
The case will be heard later next month
