DCI Seeks Help in Finding Man’s Stolen Car From Parking As He Watched Sunday’s Match
A football enthusiast’s Sunday outing turned sour after his car was stolen while he cheered on Kenya’s Harambee Stars during their World Cup Qualifiers match against Gabon at Nyayo Stadium.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is now appealing to the public for help in locating the missing vehicle.
The victim, still reeling from Kenya’s 2-1 defeat to the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang-led Gabonese side, parked his silver Toyota IST, registration number KBN 093B, along Kisauni Road behind Nairobi West Hospital at 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.
He then joined throngs of fans at the stadium to watch the highly anticipated showdown. However, when he returned shortly after 7 p.m., his car was nowhere to be found.
“I couldn’t believe it,” the man reportedly told officers at Akila Police Station in Lang’ata, where he filed his report. “I was already disappointed by the loss, and then this happened.”
After providing proof of ownership, the vehicle was officially circulated as stolen, with DCI Lang’ata spearheading the investigation.
Authorities are urging anyone with information about the silver Toyota IST to come forward. “We are working tirelessly to recover the vehicle and bring the culprits to justice,” the DCI posted on X. “The public’s assistance is crucial in cases like this.”
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, police in Juja are probing the theft of another vehicle—a white Toyota Axio, registration number KCR 628U.
The car was stolen from outside a residential house in the Matangi area near Rurii Primary School in Kimbo.
The owner had parked it on Saturday night, only to discover it missing the following morning.
The two thefts have raised concerns about vehicle security in parking areas across the region, prompting police to renew calls for vigilance among motorists.
“We encourage the public to report any suspicious activity around parked vehicles,” the DCI added.
The DCI is appealing to anyone who may have seen either the silver Toyota IST (KBN 093B) or the white Toyota Axio (KCR 628U) to contact the nearest police station or call the National Police Service hotlines: 999, 911, 112, or 0800722203.
