Accused of Defilement of a Student, How a Teacher Escaped Prison After Being Framed by a Colleague
My name is Daniel, a secondary school teacher in Western Kenya. For ten years, I dedicated my life to molding young minds. I was respected, loved by parents, and my students always performed well. But all it took was one evil plot to almost destroy everything I had built.
It began when I unknowingly became a target of jealousy from within the school staff. There was a female Guidance and Counseling teacher who never liked me. To this day, I don’t know if it was professional jealousy, unreturned feelings, or something darker. But she set me up in the most painful way possible.
One Monday morning, as I entered school, whispers followed me. Students stared, colleagues avoided me. Before I could understand, the Deputy Principal called me into the office. Sitting there was the counselor, the Principal, and a terrified Form Three girl, who used to top at my subject. They accused me of having an affair with her.
My heart stopped.
I couldn’t breathe. The girl, coached and trembling, said she had been in a relationship with me. I was accused of defiling a student, a crime that carries shame, jail, and a life sentence in the court of public opinion. To continue reading, click here.
