Betin Kenya Is Dead
Loyal Betin customers are still in darkness after the companies website remains down days after the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) directed the IT firm hosting the betting firm’s web domain to bring it down over the ongoing licensing dispute.
Betin Kenya has reassured their customers their deposits are safe and linked the downtime to a technical hitch but this may not be the case. Seen in a notice sent to parliament, the CA had ordered Deep Africa (the tech firm that hosts Betin Kenya website) to shut down it’s internet domain.
“The Communications Authority has proceeded to instruct the web hosting organization, Deep Africa Limited, to shut down the company’s internet web domain www.betin.co.ke” reads a part of the letter to the Senate.
The government had earlier suspended licenses of 27 betting firms from operating in Kenya, Betin being among them due tax noncompliance pending the outcome of an inquiry about their suitability to operate in the country.
The betting company has however put up a spirited fight by teaming up with another affected company Sportpesa and taking the matter to the courts to compel the government to restore their services.
With its M-Pesa pay-bill also disabled preventing new deposits. Betin has seen business paralyzed in the country and is arguably out of business.
