My Life Is In Danger: Investor Drops Bombshell Expose On Thomas Ogutu CEO VeGrid Ltd And Fugitive Nairobi CEC Charles Kerich – DCI Inaction And Corruption Network Exposed

In a jaw-dropping escalation that has sent shockwaves through Kenya’s business and political circles, foreign investor, AI entrepreneur and inventor Hannes Bend has unleashed a devastating public dossier exposing how a promising partnership with Thomas Mboya Ogutu, CEO and founder of VeGrid Ltd, spiraled into alleged death threats, xenophobic intimidation, massive unpaid debts and shocking ties to a fugitive county finance kingpin.

Bend, founder of breathing.ai and VitalSignAI with multiple patents in human-AI interfaces, warns the world: Kenya’s corruption networks are scamming investors from the inside out, and his life remains on the line.10

The nightmare began when Bend was brought in to turbocharge VeGrid, the Kenyan renewable energy firm hyping itself as builder of Africa’s digital operating system for distributed solar power-as-a-service.

He poured expertise into the website, pitch deck, business plan and strategy while helping incorporate the US-linked entity VeGriddy Inc (also referred to as VI Gridy Inc), where Ogutu serves as CEO. A signed agreement promised Bend a few percent ownership stake.

But Ogutu allegedly betrayed that trust by using Bend’s personal credit cards without permission for tech trials and setup costs, racking up a debt of around 52,000 that Bend says he politely chased for months alongside formalizing his shares.12

Persistence turned deadly. In chilling audio evidence from the full TikTok timeline (videos posted March 13-14, 2026), Ogutu explodes during calls, dismissing Bend’s CR12 company registry and sheriff questions tied to their deal as “none of your business” and “little games.”

Then comes the bombshell threat captured on recording around 10am on March 13: “Otherwise you’ll get deported. Uh huh. Take it from me. Okay.” Bend describes other calls laced with malicious yelling, xenophobic deportation warnings and explicit threats of serious personal harm.

He recorded everything and even faced accusations from Ogutu of creating or insulting the company name “viagrey,” despite having helped set it up.21

Fearing for his life, Bend alerted Nairobi police. Officers descended on his secure Enaki Town apartment complex, where Ogutu allegedly lives as a neighbor.

They reviewed the threatening texts and confronted Ogutu, who according to Bend denied everything, offered zero apology and charmed his way through the meeting while ignoring the damning evidence. Without the building’s security and public exposure, Bend fears he could have been abducted or worse, a tactic he says plagues some Kenyan business disputes.

In video after video, he pleads: “I fear for my life… hopefully I’ll be alive next week.” He sent “love and light” to Ogutu and family but prioritized his safety.

Now in June 2026, Bend has detonated even bigger revelations on X. His law firms uncovered that fugitive criminal Charles Kerich, the suspended former Nairobi County Executive Committee Member (CEC) for Finance, holds a stake in Ogutu’s VeGrid company, reportedly around 20 percent.

Bend posted explosive screenshots and evidence: a WhatsApp exchange with Ogutu plus a newspaper front page screaming “Fugitive CEC,” detailing Kerich’s court contempt conviction, massive debts, alleged flight to Dubai and political fallout with Governor Johnson Sakaja.

Ogutu allegedly bragged to Bend repeatedly about how Kerich’s high-level position and “corrupt actions” could shield and propel VeGrid, helping allies dodge tax trouble and wield influence.10

Bend is mercilessly calling out the rot. After three months of reporting death threats and fraud, he slams the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) for zero action: no forensic evidence collected, suppressed ODPP requests, endless delays and no protection for victims.

In a blistering press statement and posts, he rages: “You haven’t even taken any actions to protect me after three months of reported death threats… How are you making Nairobi safe? It’s a joke at this point.” He condemns “DCI’S INACTION, SUPPRESSION OF ODPP REQUESTS TO PROTECT CRIME VICTIMS AND CORRUPTION” and declares he is leaving Kenya after years of scams, xenophobia and threats while pouring money into local AI ventures. “As a foreign investor this country’s government agencies are so utterly corrupt, this cannot be a place to thrive. I’m leaving.”2

VeGrid Ltd keeps pushing glossy promotions as an innovative solar powerhouse with client testimonials, and Ogutu boasts a resume with stints at Kenya Power and Postal Corporation.

Yet no substantive rebuttal has emerged addressing the audio bombshells, debt, shares, police showdown, Kerich ownership bombshell or DCI failures. Bend also flagged Ogutu’s alleged past court records involving massive sums from Kenya Postal.13

This is no ordinary business spat. It is a searing indictment of how alleged intimidation, fugitive networks and official paralysis terrorize investors in Nairobi.

Bend’s meticulously documented timeline, complete with audios, texts, police details, company filings and now proof of the Kerich connection, has ignited calls for urgent probes.
