Harambee Ward MCA Antony Kimemia Gathumbi was on Tuesday arraigned before a Milimani court and charged with allegedly committing a Sh 9.4M fraud in a land transaction.

Kimemia was charged alongside two others where it was alleged that they jointly conspired to defraud two people over Ksh 9m in a fraudulent land transaction in Umoja two, Inner Core Estate in Nairobi.

It was alleged that Kimemia,Jane Nyambura Karia, and Daniel Munyao Mbithi conspired to defraud Esther Wanjiru Mwakuwa and Daniel Abednego of Sh 9,460,000.

The court heard that the fraud involved a forged lease for Land Reference Number Nairobi Block 83/1308, measuring 0.0225 hectares in Umoja Inner Core Estate.

The disputed land, valued at Ksh 15 million, had been sold to the complainants.

The three appeared before Magistrate Ben Mark Ekhubi and denied the charges of obtaining money by false pretenses and uttering false documents.

Mbithi is also accused of presenting a fake lease title to officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), purporting it to be a genuine certificate of lease.

Mbithi was released on a cash bail of Sh 2 million, while Anthony Kimemia Gathumbi and Jane Nyambura Karia were each released on Sh 850,000 cash bail.
