Winnie battled metastatic breast cancer for about two years before her passing. She held a degree in Industrial Fine Art and Design from Makerere University.

From a young age, Winnie showed her talent in writing poems and plays. As she grew older, she built a career as an actress, scriptwriter, songwriter, singer, painter, and interior designer.

Her first professional screenplay debuted in 2014 in a project called Penzi, marking the beginning of her successful career. She later appeared in various projects, including Kalimani Dynasty and Sultana on Citizen TV.

In 2018, Winnie began dating actor Dan Sonko. However, the couple parted ways in July 2023 after five years. Sonko stated their separation was mutual, while Winnie mentioned she was on a spiritual quest.

In 2022, Winnie publicly shared her breast cancer diagnosis in an interview with entertainment journalist Cheptoek Boyo.

In December 2023, she appealed for financial assistance to support her cancer treatment, aiming to raise at least Sh7 million for specialized medical attention abroad.

Winnie continued her treatment until mid-August when she once again sought Sh5 million for further treatment in Turkey. She reported that while her medication was initially effective, she began experiencing severe side effects.

“You wouldn’t believe it—it has over 41 side effects, and you never know which one will hit,” she explained. “You experience some at different times, and it keeps changing.” Ultimately, her doctors advised her to stop taking the medication.
