Durham University Launches £10,000 Master’s Scholarship Scheme
Durham University in the United Kingdomhas announced the availability of 85 scholarships worth £10,000 each for international students applying to select postgraduate programmes for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Known as the Inspiring Excellence £10K Scholarship, the initiative is aimed at recognising and supporting academically outstanding students from around the world. The scholarship will be applied as a tuition fee reduction for successful candidates enrolling on eligible one-year Master’s programmes.
The opportunity is open exclusively to international, self-funded students who demonstrate a strong academic background and the potential to contribute meaningfully to global development following graduation.
The scholarships are available for applicants to the following seven postgraduate programmes: MSc Biotechnology, MSc Advanced Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence), MSc Law and Finance, MSc Public Policy, MSc Advanced Computer Science, MSc International Business, and MSc Islamic Finance. Candidates must apply for one of these specific courses to be considered.
To qualify, applicants must have applied to one of the eligible programmes for September 2025 entry, meet the course’s admission requirements, be classified as overseas for tuition purposes, and be fully self-funded—meaning they should not be receiving support from external sponsors or any other scholarship.
In addition, applicants must complete the official Inspiring Excellence £10K Scholarship application form and meet the outlined deadlines. For the first round of selection, the form must be submitted by 30th April 2025, and applicants must have received an offer—either conditional or unconditional—by 4th May 2025. For the second round, the submission deadline is 8th June 2025, and applicants must hold an offer by that same date.
University clarified that candidates who miss out on the first round or fail to receive an offer in time will automatically be considered for the second round, without needing to reapply for the scholarship.
However, the university cautioned that any scholarship recipient who suspends their studies or fails to meet the scholarship requirements risks losing future scholarship benefits. In exceptional cases—such as medical reasons—continued support may be granted at the sole discretion of the Faculty Executive Dean once studies resume.
This underscores Durham’s commitment to fostering global academic excellence and supporting students who aspire to lead and innovate across various professional fields.
