The Cop Who Killed Pendo Fled Somalia, Says NPS
The National Police Service has told a Nairobi court that a fugitive senior police officer alleged to have played a key role in the cold blooded murder of Baby Samantha Pendo is believed to have fled to Somalia.
In a report produced in court, the police told court that the police officer Mohammad Baa who retired as an assistant senior superintendent of police is feared to have fled to Somalia making his arrest close to impossible.
Chief Inspector Peter Kang’ai told court that upto now, police have been unable to trace him and efforts to extradite him have been hard as Somalia is not under the Rome statute.
Kanga’i says Baa retired from active duty in July 2021 hence complicating any effort to trace him.
The alleged fugitive police officer hails from Wajir County in North Eastern at a village called Madaga and his area chief confirmed that he never went back to village after retirement.
He further told court that they have also not been able to trace the parents or any relative of the fugitive police officer.
The court heard that police are engaging mutual legal assistance in order to trace the officer.
The plea taking has been deferred severally due to missing cop not being in court
