KUCCPS Opens Transfer Window for 2025/2026 Students Seeking Programme Changes
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service has launched its inter-institutional transfer portal, offering students placed in the 2025/2026 academic year a six-week window to change their programmes or institutions.
Running from July 14 to August 24, 2025, the entirely online process allows students to request transfers through the KUCCPS portal following specific procedures outlined by the placement body.
KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome detailed the multi-step process in a circular to institutional heads.
Students must first initiate their transfer request online, which requires endorsement from their desired receiving institution.
The original institution then processes the release through their portal before KUCCPS finalizes approval and generates a transfer letter.
“The student is then required to download the approved letter and present it to the receiving institution for admission and joining instructions,” Wahome explained. Both institutions receive transfer reports through their respective portals.
The transfer window follows the release of 2025/2026 placement results on July 1, marking the beginning of the post-placement adjustment period.
This timing allows students to evaluate their options and make informed decisions about alternative academic paths.
Wahome emphasized strict adherence to programme cut-off points and subject requirements, particularly for inter-faculty or inter-programme transfers in degree programmes.
The CEO stressed the importance of institutional support during this critical period.
“The purpose of this letter, therefore, is to inform you of the timelines and to request you to accord the applicants timely support during this period,” she stated in the circular.
The transfer mechanism represents KUCCPS’s commitment to providing placement flexibility while maintaining academic standards.
Students dissatisfied with their initial placements now have a structured pathway to pursue their preferred programmes or institutions within the established timeframe.
With thousands of students affected by annual university placements, this transfer window serves as a crucial safety net for those seeking better alignment between their academic aspirations and institutional offerings.
