Migori Governor and his co-accused except his daughter Susan Scarlet Okoth secured their freedom after raising more than Sh45M cash bail which was the cumulative amount.

Scarlet couldn’t be released as she failed to deposit her passport with the court saying she misplaced it. Her Sh3M cash bail had been settled too.

Obado was slapped with Sh20M bond with alternative of Sh8.7M cash bail which he paid. His sons Dan And Jerry Okoth both given Sh2M each and daughter Evelyn Okoth receiving the same as the brothers.

Jared Kwaga who’s Obado’s top proxy in looting the coffers was hit almost as hard as the governor with a Sh8.25M cash bail, his mother Peninah Auma whom he used to register a proxy company to loot the County was hit with a Sh2M cash bail.

Kwaga’s wife Christine Ochola Sh3 million or Sh6 million bond, brothers Joram Otieno Sh5.5 million or Sh10 million bond, Patroba Otieno  Sh6 million or Sh10 million bond,  and And sisters-in-law Carolyne Ochola Sh2 million or Sh4 million bond.

Obado has been blocked from accessing his office in Migori and all accused barred from traveling outside the country as they had to deposit their passports with the court.

The Sh45M cash bail was raised and paid in record 4 hours. These people had this money with them such a middle finger to the justice system. DPP should consider questioning sources of such huge amounts from accused corrupt criminals.

Obado and his accomplices were accused of conspiring to steal Sh73M from the County.
