Former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has landed a new job as Managing Director for Africa Advisory at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.
Nzioka served during the era of Former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Waita took to his social media pages on Wednesday to announce that he had secured the international role.
“It is my honour today to announce that I have joined the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change as Managing Director – Africa Advisory,” he said.
Waita who is a seasoned professional with a multi-layered career spanning law, telecommunications, public service, and politics, announced the appointment in a reflective statement on his journey.
The former Chief of Staff began his career in legal practice before joining Safaricom PLC, where he contributed to transforming the company into one of Africa’s most admired brands during his 14-year tenure.
In 2015, Waita progressed to working in the public service, becoming a key player in President Kenyatta’s administration as one of the political advisors.
Under President Kenyatta’s regime, Waita, was tasked with bridging the political promises and governmental execution.
He described his eight years in public service as transformative and rewarding.
In 2022, Waita tried his luck in elective politics and vied for the position of governor for Machakos County but lost narrowly to Wavinya Ndeti.
Despite falling short, the experience deepened his commitment to leadership and public service, reigniting his aspirations to effect meaningful change.
“It was a life-changing experience, I came close, but not close enough to win. It did however re-ignite my desire to improve myself as a leader for the future. A political future with purpose at its heart,” Waita said.
“I will be privileged to work alongside kindred spirits, a team of like-minded thinkers, doers and trusted advisors who are committed to supporting political leaders across diverse geographies to execute their mandates effectively, whilst leveraging the benefits of technology and the efficient design of their governments for impact and results,” Nzioka stated
