DCI Arrest 5 Kidnappers in Kiambu, Rescue Victim From Sh500,000 Ransom Plot

Kiambu, Kenya – Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested five suspects linked to a daring kidnapping incident in Thindigua, Kiambu County, rescuing a victim who was being held for ransom.

The drama began when the victim’s girlfriend received a chilling phone call after her boyfriend’s line was picked up by an unfamiliar voice.

The caller demanded a ransom of Sh500,000 for the man’s release.

Acting swiftly on intelligence leads, detectives launched a manhunt that culminated near Quickmatt in Thindigua, where they intercepted two getaway vehicles and rescued the victim.

He was found in distress, wearing a blood-stained shirt and showing visible injuries.

During the operation, officers seized a kitchen knife believed to have been used in the attack, ten assorted mobile phones, and a tablet.

Investigations later revealed that the suspects had already received Sh68,000 in ransom before their arrest.

All five suspects are currently in police custody and are undergoing processing ahead of their arraignment in court.

This latest rescue adds to a growing list of kidnapping cases that detectives have successfully foiled in recent weeks.

Earlier this week, DCI officers arrested a 33-year-old man accused of abducting a seven-year-old boy in Mwihoko, Kiambu County.

According to police, the child went missing while his parents were shopping at a local supermarket.

Moments later, they received a call demanding Sh100,000 for the boy’s safe return.

Using forensic trails, officers tracked the suspect to a hideout in the Githurai Railway area, rescued the boy unharmed, and reunited him with his family.

The suspect in that case remains in custody awaiting court proceedings.

Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities, warning that kidnappers are increasingly targeting unsuspecting victims for quick financial gain.
