Celestine Otando Jailed For Raping A Fellow Woman
It is rare, but now days it is common to find women sexually assaulting other women.
For instance, Celestine Otando has been jailed for seven years after the court found her guilty to raping another woman using her fingers.
The court heard that Otando committed the offence on May 7 in Nairobi West Cidar Wood Bar in Langata Sub-County, where he raped PQ contrary to the law.
Prosecution arraigned several witnesses who testified in the case.
According to the complainant, she had gone to the stop of the roof at a place where she works to collect a certain cloth.
The accused person and the complainant had together enjoyed some tots and alcohol at the said pub, which doubles as an SPA.
“She followed me to the rooftop, lured me into a room within the hotel, and used his fingers to rape me; she did it forcefully,” she told the court.
She said that she later informed her guardians, and the matter was reported to the police, leading to the arraignment of the accused person.
In court, the accused person denied the charges and placed a spirited defence. She said that she never raped the complainant as alledged. She said that the two were good friends, and the case emerged after they had some differences.
While sentencing her, Kibera Senior Resident Magistrate noted that the offence was committed and the prosecution had proved its case.
She further said that she had considered the prosecution’s case and ordered the accused person to serve 7 years in jail.
She gave her 14 days to appeal if she wished to do so.
