First Lady’s Office Allocated 17pc More Cash To Sh696M
Cumulatively, the budget for Ruto and Rigathi will total Sh1.2 billion in the new fiscal year.
The First Lady Rachel Ruto’s office is set to get a major boost in resource allocations in the financial year starting July.
In a report tabled by Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury Njuguna Ndung’u, Rachel’s office budget will increase by 17.3% to 696.6 million in the new financial year.
The additional allocation will be used for salaries.
However, in a sharp contrast, the allocation to Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s spouse has dropped from 717.6 million to Sh557.5 million, a decrease from the previous year’s Sh1.3 billion.
Cumulatively, the budget for Ruto and Rigathi will total Sh1.2 billion in the new fiscal year.
The First Lady is dedicated to environment, climate action, financial inclusion, and women empowerment. She is also the founder and patron of Mama Doing Good and champions faith diplomacy, mental health, and wellness. As part of her Women Economic Empowerment (WEE) initiative, she aims to mentor and train 90,000 women in financial inclusion by July 2025.
Mrs. Rigathi on the other side has been channeling her money on boy child empowerment programs and on drugs and alcohol rehabilitation programs.
