Father-son duo and accomplice fail to appear for charges related to Mercedes E350 theft

NAIROBI – A Makadara Law Courts magistrate has issued arrest warrants for prominent automobile dealer Francis Ng’ang’a Mundia, owner of Valley Road Motors, and his son Brandon Njoroge Ng’ang’a, following their failure to appear in court on May 28, 2025, for charges related to the alleged theft of a Mercedes E350 valued at Sh6.5 million.

Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe issued the warrants after the duo, alongside co-accused Robert Mugaa Bundi, failed to attend their scheduled court appearance for plea taking in case number E2740 of 2023.

The three suspects face two serious charges: theft of a motor vehicle contrary to Section 278A of the Penal Code, and conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to Section 393 of the Penal Code.

The charges stem from the alleged theft of a red Mercedes Benz E350, registration number KDS 724T, belonging to Andrew Njenga Kiarie.

According to court papers, the alleged offenses occurred on February 20, 2025, at Dandora in Kamukunji Sub County within Nairobi County.

The suspects are accused of jointly stealing the luxury vehicle, which was valued at Kshs 6,500,000.

The arrest warrants, both dated May 28, 2025, and addressed to Dandora police, command officers to “forthwith apprehend the said accused and bring him before this Court to answer to the said charge, and to be further dealt with according to Law.”

Court records show that all three suspects had been arrested on May 27, 2025, without a warrant and were scheduled to appear in court on May 28, 2025. However, they failed to honor their court date despite being released on police bond.

The case details reveal that Brandon Njoroge Ng’ang’a, from Lavington, and his father Francis Ng’ang’a Mundia, also from Lavington, are both of Kikuyu ethnicity.

Their co-accused, Robert Mugaa Bundi, 44, is from Kiambu and of Meru ethnicity, with ID number 22139800.

The involvement of Valley Road Motors’ owner in this case has raised eyebrows in Nairobi’s automotive sector, where the dealership is well-known.

The case underscores growing concerns about vehicle theft in the capital, particularly involving high-end automobiles.

The conspiracy charge suggests the three suspects allegedly colluded “jointly with others not before court” to steal the Mercedes, indicating that investigations may extend beyond the three named individuals.

Police are now actively searching for the suspects following the issuance of the arrest warrants. The matter is expected to proceed once the accused are apprehended and brought before the court.

The case highlights the legal challenges facing Kenya’s automotive industry and raises questions about trust and regulatory oversight in the sector, particularly when established dealers become embroiled in such serious allegations.

As investigations continue, authorities are working to ensure the suspects face justice for the alleged theft of the luxury vehicle.
