Ruiru Church Vandalized as TikTok Group Accuses Pastor of Sodomy
Property of unknown value was destroyed when a group of youths claiming to be members of the ‘TikTok High Court’ stormed a church in Ruiru, accusing its leader Pastor Peter Barangu of sexual abuse.
The irate crowd claimed the pastor had been sexually abusing victims, with some cases allegedly dating back two years. Police were forced to disperse the mob using teargas.
One of the group’s leaders, Jackline Jaycee, alleged that she has evidence supporting the claims, stating that two survivors had come forward—one of whom had recorded a statement at Nakuru Central Police Station.
“Out of the two, one reported the case to Central Police in Nakuru. The officer in charge confirmed to us that the complaint was filed, but no action was taken. However, they are open to following it up,” she said.
Jackline added that the crowd was alerted to the situation through a live broadcast on ‘TikTok High Court’.
“We have over 30,000 followers, and they were all watching us live. That’s how people found out and rushed here in anger,” she explained.
Another member, Antony Mulai, stated that the group ensured they had credible evidence before taking action.
“Once this has happened there is no going back, so we had to make sure we had the receipts first, because this can destroy someone’s reputation…so we had to be sure first,” he said.
The pastor is accused of sedating his victims, most of whom are men, before sexually abusing them. While a complaint was reportedly filed at Nakuru Central Police Station, no official report has been made in Ruiru.
The pastor’s whereabouts remain unknown.
