Nairobi Man Arrested With Wife’s Fresh Body Parts Stashed In His Bag

Police have arrested a man who was found with body parts of a human being stashed in a sack in Huruma, Nairobi.

In a statement dated January 21, 2025, police reported that the suspect, identified as John Kiama Wambua, confessed that the body parts belong to his now deceased wife.

“Police in Huruma, Nairobi Area on 21/01/2025 at about 0500 hrs while on patrol within Kelly Towers Area arrested a male adult suspect carrying a bag on his back and upon conducting search, found a bag stashed with body parts of a human being.

“The suspect identified as John Kiama Wambua, 29 confessed that the body parts belong to his now deceased wife Joy Fridah Munani, 19, and led the officers to his house where more dismembered parts were recovered from beneath a bed,” read part of the police report.

Also recovered from the crime scene was a blood stained kitchen knife, suspected to have been the weapon of murder and clothes for the deceased.

Police further explained that the floor of the house was stained with blood.

The body parts have been moved to City Mortuary awaiting postmortem analysis. Motive of the murder is yet to be established, but the suspect is in police custody.

He claims he was headed to dump it in a river.

The suspect told police he quarrelled with his wife in their house in the area before it turned tragic.

He claimed he hit her and she fell unconscious before he realised she was dead.

It was then he used a knife to dismember the body and stuffed it into a sack for transportation to a river in the area.

Outgoing police boss Adamson Bungei said the motive of the murder is yet to be established.

“It is not easy to dismember a human body the way it was done if indeed he is the one who allegedly did it,” he said.

Bungei said they are investigating if the suspect acted alone. The family of the deceased woman had been traced and they will help in the probe, police said.

The suspect was Wednesday expected in court where police said they would make a miscellaneous application to hold him pending investigations.

Police said they are among others pursuing occultism.

This incident comes a few months after several femicide cases were reported in the country.
